Some of Continental® 360 series engines top the horsepower charts in this class - up to an impressive 225 horsepower in turbocharged and intercooled form. That's a remarkable .625 horsepower per cubic inch.

Continental IO-360-DB Engine – Replaces IO-360-D

Continental IO-360 EngineThe Continental IO-360-DB is the FAA-certified replacement for the legacy IO-360-D engine. These 210-horsepower, fuel-injected engines are most commonly installed in the rear engine position of early model Cessna 337 Skymasters (serial numbers 337-0002 through 337-0755), as well as a range of unique and legacy aircraft platforms. While the IO-360-D is no longer in production, Continental provides the IO-360-DB as a drop-in solution with matching performance and configuration.

Air Power, Inc. is the largest global distributor of Continental engines and supports both factory new and factory rebuilt IO-360-DB engines with fast delivery, expert configuration assistance, and full factory warranty registration.

What We Need to Know to Properly Spec Your Engine

To ensure your IO-360-DB matches your aircraft and installation position, please confirm the following during quoting:

  • New or rebuilt engine?
  • Aircraft make, model, and serial number
  • Front or rear engine installation? (especially important for Cessna 337)
  • 12V or 24V electrical system?
  • Impulse coupling or breaker point magnetos?
  • How is the tachometer driven? (mechanical vs sensor-based)
  • Dipstick tube orientation: Straight vertical or angled over oil cooler?
  • Oil cooler size: 7.88 or 9.72 inches?
  • Fuel pump type: Altitude-compensating or standard?

Continental Engine RFQ Process – What to Expect

Continental currently supports more than 1,400 unique engine specifications. However, over 90% of factory orders come from fewer than 400 of these spec numbers. For the remaining ~1,000 rarely ordered configurations, Continental does not publish standard pricing or lead times. This is due to the infrequent and unpredictable production schedule for low-volume specs, which impacts supply chain planning and parts availability.

What does this mean for you? If your engine is not one of the most commonly ordered models, Air Power may not have a published price immediately available. But there’s no need to worry — we will help you every step of the way:

  • We will first check to see if your spec has a current price and availability
  • If not, we will submit a formal Request for Quote (RFQ) to Continental
  • The RFQ process typically takes about one week
  • Once complete, we’ll provide you with a detailed quote including pricing and lead time

Whether you’re flying a common powerplant or a rare variant, Air Power will work directly with Continental on your behalf to ensure you get the information and support you need to move forward with confidence.

Call or email our engine sales team today to begin the process—we're here to help.
