What We Need to Know to Properly Spec Your Engine

The IO-520-F family offers multiple configuration variants depending on airframe and accessory requirements. To ensure the right fit, we’ll need the following details:

  • Aircraft make and model
  • New or rebuilt preference
  • Magneto Type: S6RN-1225 or S6RSC-25 (both impulse coupling)
  • Electrical System: 12 or 24 volt?
  • Oil Cooler Type: 7.88", 8.88", or 9.82" decongealing cooler?
  • Oil Filter: Spin-on or screen-type?
  • Alternator Mount Provision: Is the mount cast into the engine leg?
  • Oil Sump Drain Location: Rear or left side near the rear?

Alternator Recommendation

Most IO-520-F configurations do not include an alternator. Air Power strongly recommends upgrading to the Plane Power line of alternators for optimal reliability and ease of installation.
