You'll often hear pilots referring to the Continental® O-470 in reverent tones as "old reliable." Powering the majority of Cessna® 180 and fixed-gear 182 aircraft from 1953 through 1986, this workhorse of an engine embodies simplicity, efficiency and ruggedness. Its track record speaks louder than words - a true brawny powerplant. In fact, some versions make full power at a smooth, quiet 2400 rpm.
The Continental IO-470-N is a fuel-injected, six-cylinder aircraft engine producing 260 horsepower at 2625 RPM. It is most commonly installed on the Beechcraft Bonanza N35 and Bonanza C33, delivering smooth throttle response, strong cruise performance, and dependable operation for both personal and utility flying.
This engine offers a perfect balance of power and efficiency, with a long service history across the Bonanza series. Whether you’re restoring a legacy Bonanza or replacing a timed-out core, Air Power can configure your IO-470-N engine for your exact needs.
Continental builds over 1,400 engine specs, but most orders come from fewer than 400. If your specific IO-470-N configuration isn’t currently priced, Air Power will submit a Request for Quote (RFQ) to Continental on your behalf.
Air Power is the largest global distributor of Continental engines and the preferred engine provider for both factory new and rebuilt configurations. With unmatched factory access and spec expertise, our team ensures you get the exact engine your Bonanza needs—on time and to spec.
