Continental® introduced the first 500 series engine to the world in the Beechcraft® Bonanza and the Cessna® Centurion in 1964. Continental IO-520-BB Engine The Continental IO-520-BB is the current production replacement for the IO-520-B and IO-520-BA. It is a fuel-injected, air-cooled, six-cylinder engine producing 285 horsepower, and is widely recognized for its smooth operation, reliability, and suitability for high-performance airframes.

Most commonly installed in Beechcraft Bonanza models F33A, A36, and V35B, the IO-520-BB is also compatible with the Navion Model H, T-34 Mentor, and Bonanza C33.
